Janggut Laksa at AMK Hub carries forward over seven decades of Katong laksa heritage, tracing its roots to 1950 when founder Ng Juat Swee, nicknamed "Janggut" (beard in Malay), pioneered the famous spoon-only eating style by cutting noodles into short strands. This legendary laksa brand revolutionized Singapore's laksa culture by making the dish accessible and convenient, with Mr. Ng originally peddling his laksa from metal buckets on a pole around Marine Parade. Today, Janggut Laksa continues this rich tradition at AMK Hub, bringing authentic "Original Katong Laksa" to the Ang Mo Kio community with the same heritage recipes that established them as one of Singapore's most respected laksa institutions.
The signature laksa features a creamy, intensely flavored coconut broth with subtle spiciness, showcasing springy thick bee hoon noodles, fresh bean sprouts, and generous seafood toppings that create the perfect harmony of textures and flavors. Available in three sizes - small (S$5.50), medium (S$6.50), and large (S$7.50) - each bowl delivers premium quality with concentrated dried shrimp fragrance and rich coconut milk base that defines authentic Katong-style laksa. Beyond their famous laksa, the menu includes traditional otah with firm texture and savory spice paste, plus additional dishes like curry cutlet rice that complement their heritage laksa offerings.
Conveniently located within AMK Hub with delivery options through GrabFood, FoodPanda, and Deliveroo, Janggut Laksa provides flexible access to Singapore's most authentic laksa experience for both dine-in and home enjoyment. The brand's multiple locations and islandwide delivery service ensure that families across Singapore can experience this culinary heritage that helped define modern laksa culture. Visit during your AMK Hub dining experience to taste the legendary laksa that transformed how Singaporeans enjoy this beloved dish, and discover why Janggut Laksa remains the gold standard for authentic Katong-style laksa after more than 70 years.

Ordered the regular laksa. There’s only one piece of prawn, maybe 5 cockles and some fish cake in it. For $5.50 it’s not really worth it. Gravy is quite diluted, and there’s a strong aftertaste of not very fresh coconut milk. The otah also have a strong coconut oil aftertaste that is quite bad. Very disappointed in this meal

Ordered a Laksa takeaway separate noodles and gravy. Was told by staff to bring noodles home to cook myself. First time I've encountered this. What a joke. Avoid this joint, they're not worth it.

$5.50. Diluted gravy. Small portion. Disappointing….

Ridiculously small portions for both the laksa and curry chicken, and gravy for both were very diluted. Totally not worth trying.

There are times when it is good and there are times when it is not. After eating at the OG Queensway spot, this is utterly pale in comparison. No wonder whenever I try to order there got no queue.

Expensive. One piece of prawn. Laksa +otah $7. Ridiculous

The curry is watery and tasteless

Not too sure what everyone is complaining about. Acceptable laksa, not the best but it isn't bad. Price wise, unless you live under a rock, foodcourt prices are already $5 - $8 for most stalls. The staff is very friendly. & if you're comparing to this & that best dish someone else, won't reviews for 99% of f&b become 1 star?
