Bengawan Solo at AMK Hub preserves Singapore's cherished heritage of traditional kueh and local confectionery, continuing the legacy that began when Mrs. Anastasia Liew started the first Bengawan Solo Cake Shop in a small neighborhood corner store on Singapore's east coast. Located at #B2-59, this beloved establishment has grown from humble beginnings to become an established Singaporean brand synonymous with premium quality cakes and traditional confectionery, earning recognition from CNN in 2017 when they declared Bengawan Solo's Pandan Chiffon Cake as "Singapore's National Cake."
The extensive menu celebrates Singapore's multicultural culinary heritage through an impressive array of traditional kueh including Ondeh Ondeh (coconut-coated glutinous rice balls filled with molten palm sugar), Kueh Salat, Lapis Sagu rainbow layer cakes, and Asian specialty cakes like spiced Kueh Lapis, alongside signature treats such as Pineapple Tarts, Macadamia Sugee Cookies, and Kueh Bangkit coconut cookies. Every product is handmade daily using traditional methods, the finest fresh ingredients, and no artificial preservatives to maintain the authentic time-honored taste that has made Bengawan Solo a household name across Singapore and beyond.
Operating daily from 9:30am to 10pm with fresh deliveries 2-3 times daily from their central Woodlands bakery, Bengawan Solo AMK Hub ensures customers always find oven-warm, premium quality treats that represent the very best of Singapore's traditional confectionery art. Whether you're celebrating special occasions with their signature Kueh Lapis Sagu, introducing friends to authentic local flavors, or simply indulging in the nostalgia of traditional Singaporean sweets, Bengawan Solo delivers an authentic taste journey through Singapore's rich culinary heritage that connects generations through shared appreciation of time-tested recipes and artisanal craftsmanship.

Today I took a bite of the walnut cake which my wife collected at AMK Hub with a voucher, I felt something strange in my mouth and pulled out a long strand of hair! Perhaps in the production line one of the staff didn’t put on a hair cap.

I bought a packet each of ondeh-ondeh and kueh kosui. The ondeh-ondeh was quite nice; but the kueh kosui had too much of the alkaline (kee) taste that we sometimes encounter in poorly-made kueh kosui. Rather disappointed to get such lousy kueh kosui from Bengawan Solo.

Staff using bare hands to take out cakes. Decided not to buy… disgusting and disappointed 🤬

I had been loyal fan of bengawan solo for many years and indeed have not been disappointed before with their cakes and kuehs… until recently. The ondeh ondeh (which I think is one of the best I tried in Singapore) tastes different. Skin is harder, thicker and drier…. Not anywhere close to what it used to taste. Did you change supplier?

Don’t understand why a senior staff name Zoe (shown on her name tag) face is so moody every time I saw her in this store. No smile, no thank you and give us the change and receipt.. Dear management team, can you do something??

Egad! They had the long awaited and oh so rare Rempah Udang today! Had to get it and Kuih Bingka and Seri Muka too! Oh yummy.

Sliced pandan chiffon cake is good yet a bit expensive. It was consumed in seconds.

Have been regulars for almost 15 years. We patronise 4-5 times per week as we love their pandan chiffon cake, pandan cheese roll and various kuehs. The banana cake is not bad as well. The service is great too!

went on Sunday morning 10+ to redeem a voucher and the kuehs were not on display yet as they had just arrived. The Chinese staff was very patient & helpful as I try to describe the kueh I want (I do not know the kueh's name). Then she went thru the stack of newly arrived trays to get my kueh. Even when there is a queue, she still remind me to keep them in the fridge and not leave them out for too long, as the kueh have coconut. The kueh is still as yummy.

Service is a little slow, but location is a huge plus factor. Offerings are as per most other Bangawan Solos, where they serve very solid nonya cakes and pastries. It's very good for parties and snacks that you can bring to gatherings and meet ups.

Located at the basement of Ang Mo Kio hub, this storefront is right by NTUC, near where the cashiers are located. They serve very traditional and high quality Nonya pastries, at rather reasonable prices. Only thing, however, is that their offerings don't really change much, so it's very tough to find new innovative things that you can get after each visit.
